High Fidelity is getting a gender-swapped reboot courtesy of Disney.
The House of Mouse is developing a version of Nick Hornby's bittersweet novel and its 2000 cult classic comedy starring John Cusack as a lovable loser running his local record store.
This version of High Fidelity will go the PG-13 route, rather than an R-rating like the original movie, because Disney wants it for its family-friendly streaming service (via Deadline).
The High Fidelity show will still use the framing device of the record shop owner reflecting melancholically on failed romances, only this time it will be coming from a female perspective.
Ugly Betty's Veronica West and Sarah Kucserka are penning the script, with the film's writer Scott Rosenberg on board as one of High Fidelity's producers.
High Fidelity remains a cult classic for fans of the romantic comedy genre, having featured an incredible cast alongside Cusack including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Joan Cusack, Tim Robbins, Jack Black and even rock legend Bruce Springsteen.
