Keeping Up With The Kardashians is back for its 12th series this weekend – no, really, 12th – and it shows no signs of slowing down. Ever since we met Kim, Khloe, Kourtney et al back in 2007, they've kept us busy with their fights, romances and scandals. Like the time Kris accidentally gave her son Rob Viagra (never forget).
But they've also changed a lot in that time. After all, back in 2007, Kris had no grandchildren, Kim had only been married once and Kendall and Kylie weren't even teenagers yet. And if you don't believe us, just look at these promo shots from ye olden days…
SEASON ONE
Where do we even begin with this? The fact that no-one knew who Kim Kardashian was yet ("the new Hollywood 'It Girl'")? Kendall's amazing shocked face? Rob's exasperation (what an omen)? The fact that you can hardly see Khloe because no-one knew how brilliant she is yet? Kylie's ruffles? Kris's face? ALL THE LEOPARD PRINT? We can't imagine what Kanye would make of all this. Seriously, though, look what a baby Kylie is:
SEASON TWO
Well this has calmed things down a little. Already, the Kardashians' famed love of black and white is making its presence known (we're still not over the news that they have black toilet paper). But they haven't quite mastered the fixed grin yet – Khloe in particular looks slightly terrified.
What to Read Next
SEASON THREE
By now, the Kardashians were hitting their stride – after all, the season three premiere contains the iconic moment of Kim taking selfies on her way to take Khloe to jail. But this streamlined promo shot of just the gals and their mum is amping up the classiness of it all. We're not sure Kourtney would wear those sparkly leggings now, mind.
SEASON FOUR
Forget the partners, forget the kids, forget the mum: it's all about Kim, Khloe and Kourtney. And while admittedly they look a bit like they're stuck in a lift, the glamour factor really is getting upped (as is the soft focus and Photoshopping). But there's one big change we should really pay attention to: Kourt is pregnant for the first time. Just think – when this photo was taken, no-one had met her son Mason Dash Disick yet. And he's easily one of the best ones.
SEASON FIVE
Kris got welcomed back into the promo shot for season five, which is now full-on, unapologetic glam. We all knew what the Kardashians was about by now, and the dripping jewellery and gold everywhere is a sign of how much their careers were taking off. This was a bit of an escapist series, too, with Kim dating various lovely chaps and Khloe in the honeymoon stage with Lamar.
SEASON SIX
Could this be more exotic? Perhaps the Kardashians wanted to nod to their growing global fanbase with this fancy shoot complete with rugs, silk cushions and peacock feathers (why not throw everything in there?) You can already see how much they've changed - just flick between this and the season one photo and tell us Kim doesn't look massively different. And to think: this was the season that introduced Kris Humphries and ended with him proposing to Kim. Oh well.
SEASON SEVEN
With the Kardashians now causing so much drama between them, it made sense to get the whole family on board for season seven's photoshoot… and it could not be more classy, either, presumably to try to boost the Kardashian brand.
Everyone looks fabulous, of course, but you can already see how much Kendall and Kylie have grown up.
SEASON EIGHT
These could just be pictures of any old family on a nice holiday, couldn't they? Khloe's not even bothering to wear shoes here:
Perhaps after amping up the glamour in previous series, the Kardashians wanted to get back to us feeling like we were part of their family - after all, this is the series that followed Kim's pregnancy with North West, and there's not much that was glamorous about that.
SEASON NINE
By season nine, lots of the relationships were starting to hit the rocks, so maybe it's not surprising that this ever so glitzy press shot decided to focus just on the mum and her daughters. And what women they are - by now, they've got the styling nailed, and all look amazing, no matter what problems they were facing at the time. And Kylie's definitely looking more like the Ms Jenner we know, isn't she? Can't imagine how filthy those hems are going to be by the end of it all, though.
SEASON TEN
By this point, Kim had become a bonafide superstar - she was married to Kanye, and she was just about to announce she was pregnant again. So why not focus on her for this picture? Simple and stylish - and showing off that post-baby body, albeit more covered up than we're usually accustomed to seeing it - this picture is proof of how far Kimmy has come.
SEASON ELEVEN
Now these are the girls we know and love. This promo shot for the last season of the Kardashians is actually quite symbolic, looking as it does like shattered glass. Is it a mirror (which would be appropriate, we suppose?) Is it a reflection of the way the family's dramas had shattered them? Who knows: but one thing's for sure, they are all looking on point. Kendall and Kylie are actual adults now and everything. We are a bit disconcerted by Kris Jenner's floating head though.
SEASON TWELVE
And it's back! We can only imagine what dramas this series will hold, but these are the Kardashians we recognise - and with all that lace and all those sleek looks, it couldn't be more different from the leopardprint and ruffles of season one. Y'know, we're getting all choked up - haven't they grown? Now, bring on the drama…
