They're just trolling us now.
Doctor Who writer Steven Moffat has been trying to lure The Hobbit director Peter Jackson over to the UK to film an episode for yonks, and we may have just got our first hint that it could actually happen. But let's be honest, it probably won't.
Jackson has posted a brilliant skit on his Facebook page, showing Capaldi's Twelfth Doctor invading his home and trying to get him to sign a BBC contract.
Sadly, Jackson seems more preoccupied with polishing his Oscars and watching The Walking Dead to care.
So could this mean we'll finally see the New Zealand director crossover to TV? Probably not. Capaldi is currently in the country for a week-long visit including a chat show style event, Peter Capaldi in Conversation, at The Civic in Auckland on Tuesday.
Moffat recently told us that he'd love to get Jackson on board, but that he's far too busy: "He's mentioned it, and then we e-mail him and he doesn't reply! I think his plan is we'll go to New Zealand and spend six months making it, and our plan is he comes to Cardiff and makes it in 12 days, so there's that disparity!

"He's a genuine big old Doctor Who fan, I think his schedule is difficult. I don't know - maybe [it'll happen]. But I'm not quite sure what a movie director who can do anything he likes gets out of our budget and our schedule, because the skillset required is pretending you're Peter Jackson, without a budget."
For now though, we can at least hope that Jackson will sign up for an episode - so long as he keeps it to a couple of hours at most.
