Coronation Street's Sinead Tinker will lie to her boyfriend Daniel Osbourne after he urges her to start chemotherapy.

Sinead's worst fears are confirmed next week as she's diagnosed with cervical cancer, and although she initially tries to keep Daniel in the dark, it's only a matter of time before he finds out the truth.

Sinead is currently 12 weeks pregnant with Daniel's baby and will be hugely concerned with how treatment could affect their unborn child.

Although Sinead is told that she can undergo a mild form of chemotherapy while continuing with her pregnancy, she still struggles with the possibility that it could put the baby at risk.

As her worries overwhelm her, Sinead lies to Daniel about attending a chemotherapy appointment and instead starts researching alternative therapies behind his back. How long can she keep him in the dark for?

Katie McGlynn, who plays Sinead, told TV Times: "When the doctor said to Sinead, 'You've got a lump', the first thing she asked was, 'Is the baby okay?'

"She has a maternal instinct straight away. She's not thinking about herself and this will play out throughout this storyline."

In the meantime, fans will have to stay tuned to find out exactly when and how Daniel does find out the truth about Sinead.

We know that Daniel's father Ken uncovers the secret next week when he spots Sinead crying at the hospital, so could he be the one who spills the beans?

Bill Roache, who plays Ken, explained today (October 9): "Ken's loyalties are totally torn. All his instincts are saying to tell Daniel, but then he also wants to honour Sinead's feelings. It's a terrible dilemma.

"She's got cervical cancer and has to choose whether to have the full treatment and terminate her pregnancy, or just have a more gentle treatment where the baby could survive and so could she, but that's a risk.

"It has to be her choice, but Ken is in an impossible situation. Whatever he decides to do here will upset someone. It's heartbreaking for Ken. If Ken keeps this from Daniel it could completely shatter their relationship."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
