Coronation Street's Ken Barlow will face a terrible dilemma next week as he discovers Sinead Tinker's cancer secret.
Ken uncovers the truth about Sinead (Katie McGlynn) by chance when he spots her crying at the hospital, leaving him with a tough decision to make about whether to tell his son Daniel Osbourne.
Viewers know that pregnant Sinead is currently suffering in silence after being told that she could have cervical cancer.
Next week's episodes see this diagnosis officially confirmed and Sinead is devastated when she's told to consider terminating her pregnancy to start treatment.
When Sinead leaves the hospital room in tears, she gets spotted by Ken and rushes off. Later on, Ken comes to see her at the flat and Sinead shares the full story.
Much to Ken's concern, Sinead reveals that she doesn't want to tell Daniel about the cancer, partly because she fears putting him in a position where he has to choose between her and the baby. Will Ken agree to keep quiet?

Bill Roache, who plays Ken, revealed: "Sinead doesn't confide in him voluntarily. Ken happens to be at the hospital when she comes out of a room in tears, having been given the news.
"She rushes off home, but he goes round after her and puts her in a position where she tells him. He becomes her confidant, even though it wasn't through choice.
"Ken wants Sinead to tell Daniel. He says, 'You must tell him, you can't keep him out of this'. But Sinead says, 'It's my baby, my body, my cancer'. She begs Ken to keep quiet, but it's really difficult for him. He wants to do the honourable thing, but this is his son's life as well."
Bill continued: "Ken's loyalties are totally torn. All his instincts are saying to tell Daniel, but then he also wants to honour Sinead's feelings. It's a terrible dilemma. She's got cervical cancer and has to choose whether to have the full treatment and terminate her pregnancy, or just have a more gentle treatment where the baby could survive and so could she, but that's a risk.
"It has to be her choice, but Ken is in an impossible situation. Whatever he decides to do here will upset someone. It's heartbreaking for Ken. If Ken keeps this from Daniel it could completely shatter their relationship."
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Friday, October 19 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
