Jim McDonald's return to the cobbles was always going to involve fireworks, but it seems he'll get more than he bargained for when his latest twisted scam unravels.
Coronation Street fans have been sceptical about the McDonald patriarch's scheme to swindle ex-wife Liz and son Steve with the 'return' of his daughter Katie, but Beverley Callard has hinted that the truth about the plot will come out sooner or later.
While speaking to The Sun about the upcoming storyline – which sees Jim masquerade his lover as his and Liz's (no longer) dead daughter – Beverley promised the return of "feisty Liz".
"Listen, feisty Liz returns with a vengeance, that's all I can say about that," she teased, before adding that any kind of showdown between the former couple is "a long way off".

"We're a long way off that now but the scenes are just brilliant," she continued. "You know you get the script and think, 'Oh that's good, that's good', but honestly I could not wait to film them."

Beverley, who has played Liz McDonald on the soap since 1989, also went on to tease that Jim's commitment to the plan will waver as time goes by.
"His intentions are so deceitful and devious but deep down inside Jim is a very moral character, and I think that begins to come through," she admitted.
Fans were shocked when it was revealed that Jim was the mastermind behind his and Hannah's deception earlier this week, but will Liz ever realise the true extent of his involvement? Well, we're not so sure.
Jim's a devious so-and-so, so he is.
"It doesn't occur to her that Jim is involved with this and that will never occur to her at all," Beverley said. "She would believe Jim, she would believe he's capable of violence.
"But she wouldn't believe that he would be capable of such deceit."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
