Zoo-goers in Germany have reportedly complained to staff about a baby camel which has not yet developed its humps.
Caliph, a 3ft camel weighing 40kg, has been the subject of comments from disappointed visitors to the enclosure, the Austrian Times reports.
Keeper Kristian Bergmann said: "There is a popular misconception that camels have humps to store water.
"In fact the hump is a fatty deposit that keeps the animal alive when it treks over long distances without food - and obviously a baby camel needs time to build up those fat deposits."
He added: "But we keep getting smart visitors telling us to give the camel a drink or suggesting the baby is a crossbred with one of the other animals. He will get his humps eventually but it will take time."
