Kesha has filed to dismiss her sexual assault lawsuit against former producer Dr Luke.

The 'Tik Tok' singer's legal team formally dropped the suit in California on Monday (August 1), so Kesha can resume her stalled music career.

But don't think this means she's dropping the lawsuit entirely, as the singer added that she's continuing to "fight for [her] rights" in New York.

"My fight continues," she wrote. "I need to get my music out. I have so much to say. This lawsuit is so heavy on my once free spirit, and I can only pray to one day feel that happiness again.

"I am continuing to fight for my rights in New York. Thank you for all your support. The support of my fans has been so beautiful and I'm so grateful for it. I'm Not sure where I would be without you all."

The popstar has recorded and submitted more than two-dozen new songs to Sony Music and Dr Luke's imprint Kemosabe in order to fulfil her remaining contractual obligations.

Kesha's lawyer Daniel Petrocelli explained (via Buzzfeed): "Kesha is focused on getting back to work and has delivered 28 new songs to the record label.

"We have conveyed to Sony Music and the label Kesha's strong desire to release the single and an album as soon as possible."

Aside from a guest appearance on Zedd's 'True Colors' in April, Kesha has been blocked from releasing any new music since she sued former mentor Dr Luke two years ago.

Kesha filed a sexual assault and battery suit against Dr Luke in a Los Angeles court back in 2014. Dr Luke has always denied any wrongdoing.

In a response to her allegations, Dr Luke counter-sued Kesha in New York for defamation and breach of contract - igniting a flurry of legal suits in multiple states.

Back in April, all but one of Kesha's attempts to be freed of her Sony deal were dismissed by a New York judge in her latest attempt to be released from her contract with the producer's Kemosabe Records. She continues to appeal that ruling - despite dropping her sex assault suit in California.

However, Kesha has not stopped performing - having paid tribute to Bob Dylan on US TV at the American Music Awards and announced plans for an August tour.

At this stage, it remains unclear if Sony will release any of these new songs that Kesha has submitted.
