While there's no way on Earth that Arnold Schwarzenegger will ever reprise his role as Batman and Robin's Mr Freeze, some evidence has come to light that he could return to the DC cinematic canon in Wonder Woman.
The actor and former Governator has been followed on Twitter by both Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins and DC Film chief Geoff Johns (as spotted by Batman News).
Before you declare that to be some very flimsy evidence, there is precedent. John Cleese followed Zack Snyder and Ben Affleck on Twitter in late 2016, causing rumours that he would be in Justice League. Those rumours were finally confirmed as true last month.
Shooting finished last autumn, but it has been speculated that he could be voicing a role – perhaps a CG Ares, if the rumours that the Greek god of war is the film's primary villain turn out to be true.
Alternately, Jenkins and Johns might have just jointly been enjoying the shade Schwarzenegger has been casting at President Donald Trump.
The actor famously portrayed Victor Fries in the infamous Batman and Robin. And if he does show up in Wonder Woman, there is sadly no way that he will be able to match the former's level of terrible puns.
What to Read Next
It wouldn't be Schwarzenegger's first brush with Greek mythology – he starred in Hercules in New York (albeit heavily dubbed and credited as 'Arnold Strong').
Gal Gadot will return to star in the film, set during World War I, which follows the other Princess Diana's first adventure outside her secret Amazonian home.
Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Lucy Davis, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui and David Thewlis also feature in the movie.
Wonder Woman will be released on June 2.
