The pair were pitted against each other at the 62nd National Film Awards, and while Ranaut won the award for her performance in Queen, Chopra was magnanimous in defeat and praised her former co-star on Twitter.

She tweeted: "I hate losing. But if I had to take a back seat to anyone this year it would be you #KanganaRanaut ! Congratulations!yay Queen!#SmallTownGirls."
Speaking to PTI, Ranaut revealed that Chopra had also personally called to congratulate her following her National Award win.
"It's been long, long journey with Priyanka and it began during Fashion when I was a starry-eyed fan of hers. She was a superstar during that time and today I am competing with her. It feels great.

"We have always maintained our friendship since 2008. She had no reason to choose me as her friend because I was a nobody at that time. She called me from California and congratulated me after the awards were announced. We spoke for an hour," she said.
The 28-year-old said she has the highest regard for the former Miss World and her work.
"I have been misquoted many times when it comes to Priyanka. But it hasn't changed our equation. Art is subjective and if people say that her performance in Mary Kom was better than I have no issues with that. It's just the spirit which matters," she said.
Following her win at the National Awards, Ranaut said that her award came as a complete surprise.
