Punit Malhotra has said that his latest film Gori Tere Pyaar Mein is not a run-of-the-mill romantic comedy.
The film sees Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan pair up for the first time since the romance Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu.
He told IANS: "I hope Gori Tere Pyaar Mein is not perceived as a romcom because there is a deeper meaning in the second half."
The movie's composer Vishal Dadlani added: "The film never becomes heavy and the things that need to be told have been told beautifully, and it is still a fun and entertaining film. According to me, this film can redefine the way romcoms are thought of in this country."
Khan plays a city dweller who meets a village girl, played by Kareena Kapoor, who he decides to follow across the country and woo.
"Gori Tere Pyaar Mein is a film that starts as a romcom, there is a romantic story, but it is not just a romcom. It is more than that," Dadlani claimed.

Producer Karan Johar revealed last month that the story of a doomed romance happened to Punit Malhotra.
He has previously said that he wishes the film's stars were married to each other in real life because of their on-screen chemistry.
