Gears of War 4 has been officially announced, but fans will have to wait until the 2016 Christmas period to get their hands on it.
Microsoft revealed the next entry in its popular shooter series during its Xbox press conference at E3 2015.
Gameplay footage shown on stage (above) depicted a man and a woman armed to the teeth, taking out a variety of enemies with a gnasher shotgun, lancer and snub pistol.
The game will also include a chainsaw for those who enjoy melee combat of the messy kind.
Microsoft announced Gears of War Ultimate Edition as well - a remastered version of the original game for Xbox One rendered in 1080p resolution with 60-frames-per-second - during its E3 presentation.
A one-week public multiplayer beta version of the game will begin today (June 15).
