Khloe Kardashian has filed for divorce from Lamar Odom.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star has blamed the split on irreconcilable differences in her court petition.

Kardashian is not asking the presiding judge for any spousal support, but is asking to drop Odom as her formal surname.

Speculation has swirled about the state of the couple's marriage over the last several months.

Odom was rumoured to be struggling with substance abuse problems over the summer, with reports suggesting that he and his wife were living separately.

The basketball star was recently sentenced to three years of probation for entering a no-contest plea in his DUI case.

Kardashian broke her silence about her marriage problems in November, saying that she has been trying to save her relationship with Odom for a few years.

"A lot's been going on in the past couple of years, just with me and Lamar, and I've made that choice myself to keep that within my marriage," she said on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

"But lately it's getting bigger than me... Sometimes things are bigger than yourself. I don't have a plan - I don't know what the next step is."

Kardashian and Odom were married in Beverly Hills in September 2009, a month after they originally met at a mutual friend's party.
